“A Martial Artist since 1981; I have trained, studied, taught and been ranked in many different styles as my interests grew. After spending a fair amount of time training in Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido, I searched out an instructor in Shorin Ru karate and got my first taste in a reality based street system. I liked the contact and the training. In 1989, I moved to Arizona and it was there that I truly found the style and instructor that shaped who I am today. Master Peter Hill and his Kenpo Integrative Arts System was everything I was looking for at that time and his “think outside the box” way of teaching carries over into my classrooms today. It was during this time period that I pursued the art of Tai Chi under Master Hill.
In 2000, I moved back to Wisconsin and began to teach Tai Chi in two of the best health clubs in Southeast Wisconsin and at one of the largest resorts on Lake Geneva. I started to personal train at all three facilities and was a certified aquatic trainer through AEA (Aquatic Exercise Association) and was a personal trainer through the NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association). I developed and taught an aquatic Tai Chi program as well as a water kickboxing class with great success. In 2006, I traveled to China with Master Hill and Master Jinheng Li as a representative for the US Ambassador Tour for Internal Martial Arts where I trained at the Beijing School of Sports and Medicine under the guidance of Wushu Coach Wu Bin studying Tai Chi with the masters. In early 2012 I developed my own style of teaching Tai Chi and Qigong and created 5 Element Fusion LLC. I continue to research the art of Qigong for both spiritual and healing aspects of the art, as well as train and teach different styles of Tai Chi Chuan. I am currently a master instructor certified through World Tai Chi, a 3rd degree black belt through World Martial Integrative Arts, and the owner and master instructor of 5 Element Fusion.” — Jeff Ponasik, Master Instructor/Owner
